The Ultimate Challenger Showdown: Hellcat Redeye vs Hellcat

The Hellcat isn’t that far off from the Redeye’s performance. Find out just how close these two run in a series of quarter-mile drag runs

The Dodge Challenger's lineup can be rather confusing at times, with subtle performance differences between these cars. But how do these numbers pan out in real life?

Well, let's find out because a Hellcat takes on a Redeye in a couple of quarter-mile runs. Both engines feature the 6.2 liter V-8 engine, with the Hellcat producing 707hp and 650 lb-ft of torque

The Redeye, which if you didn't recognize is the one in the wine color, features a detuned version of the Demon's engine and it produces 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque, using a bigger 2.7 liter supercharger

And the performance difference is almost immediately apparent, with the Redeye taking the win, completing the quarter-mile in 10.84 seconds at 130.05 mph

It was now time for round two, this time, we have a dark grey SRT Hellcat

while at the other end, we have this purple Redeye. Dodge says that 25% of engine components are different on the Redeye when compared to the Hellcat. It even employs a high performance propshaft

Both cars burn some rubber before lining up to do a standing quarter

The hammer drops and the hellcat has a poor reaction time. The Redeye's driver meanwhile got a perfect launch

and easily took the win, clocking in a quarter-mile time of 10.45 seconds at 134 mph. It's only on a track that we truly get to gauge the performance differential of these iconic Muscle cars. Swipe Up to Read More.
