This Tuned 1,200-Horsepower Ford Mustang GT500 Is Out To Draw Blood Against The Invincible Tesla Model S Plaid

The Model S Plaid has been a bully on the drag strip, but it may have finally met its match in this 1,200-horsepower Mustang

Brooks from 'DragTimes' pit the Tesla Model S Plaid against two Mustang GT500s. One was stock, while the other made 1,200 HP

The Tesla already set the stage with a quick solo run for warmup

The stock GT500 was driven by YouTube star Shmee. The car obviously didn’t stand a chance against the Plaid

It made 760 HP and 625 lb-ft of torque from its 5.2-liter, supercharged V-8 mill

The Model S Plaid, on the other hand, makes 1,020 HP from its tri-motor setup

Anticipating the obvious outcome, Brooks decided to delay his start to give the GT500 a glimmer of hope. It did not take long for the electric beast to catch up with its combustion counterpart

The Mustang recorded times of 10.937- and 10.893 seconds in both its runs compared to the Plaid’s early 9s

The tuned GT500 was up next. It made 1,200 HP, almost 450 HP more than the stock car

In the first run, the Tesla finished the race in 9.384 seconds, whereas the GT500 took 9.864 seconds

While it performed much better than the stock GT500, it still lost to the Tesla. This time, however, the Tesla could not risk giving any distance to the GT500 and had a proper start

The second run was better, but not enough. The Tesla completed the run in 9.472 seconds and the Mustang in 9.827 seconds
