Ultra Rare Street Legal AMG CLK GTR to go Under the Hammer at Pebble Beach

Only 25 of these ultra-rare Mercs were ever produced and here’s your chance to get your hands on one, provided you’ve got deep pockets

Do you remember the AMG CLK GTR from the late 90s? Well No.9 of 25 examples manufactured, can now be yours. If you've got deep pockets.

The CLK GTR was essentially a road going version of the a race car that participated in the FIA GT1 Class.

It went up against the likes of the 993 Porsche GT1 and the Mclaren F1 GTR.

Mercedes had to build a limited number of road going versions of the race car for homologation purposes.

To show the brand's commitment to the GT1 class, Mercedes Benz made 25 examples of of the CLK GTR.

It includes 20 coupes and 5 roadsters.

The car features race car tech, like a detachable steering wheel.

The cockpit is very snug and purposeful indeed.

With everything falling to hand beautifully, you've got nothing in here but the basics to get the job done.

The job being, of course, getting to some serious speeds.

You have two sporty bucket seats which look like they have been squeezed into the carbo- fiber tub.

You can find the limited edition plaque proudly displayed on the centre console.

The engine in the CLK GTR is a 6.9 liter V-12 that produced 604 hp and 572 lb-ft of torque.

You also get a race car like pushrod suspension setup.

The CLK AMG GTR features an all-carbon, lightweight construction, as it was derived from racing.

AMG designed and built this beast in just 4 months after Mercedes announced it's intent to participate in the GT1 Class.

The particular example, No.9, was first purchased by Hermann Dieter Eschmann in 1997.

He was in possession of the car until 2005, after which it has switched hands several times. It was imported to the US in 2017.

This Ultra Rare CLK AMG GTR is being offered through Gooding & Company and is set to go under the Hammer at Pebble Beach.
