Rimac unveiled the production form of C_Two concept last month. Christened with the name ‘Nevera’, this electric hypercar debuted with jaw-dropping specs. Stuff like 1,900 horses from a quad-motor setup, 0-60 mph in 1.85 seconds, etc. were the best for any production car. It came with a heavy price tag, too, costing around $2.5 million after currency conversion.

A car with these specs can’t be a match to any production car (Tesla Model S Plaid being the closest, but not better), but the folks at Carwow still decided to pit it against two German sprint runners – the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and the BMW M5 Competition. Do you think either of them can walk out of this race with any shred of dignity left?

The Nevera Makes More Power Than Its Rival… Combined

The Rimac Nevera comes with a quad-motor setup that churns out 1,914 horses and 1,741 pound-feet of torque combined. It weighs 4,740 pounds, which isn’t less, but it’s still lighter than the Taycan. A few of the reasons for the weight despite the light overall build are the large 120 kWh battery pack, four motors, and a gearbox on each axle. Nevertheless, it gallops to 60 mph from a standstill in just 1.85 seconds!

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S features a dual-motor setup that cranks 761 horses and 774 pound-feet of twist combined. Surprisingly, it weighs 5,070 pounds, which is 330 pounds more than the Nevera despite having two motors fewer.

The BMW M5 Competition is the odd duck here that runs on fossil fuel. It features a twin-turbo V-8 mill under the hood that displaces at 4.4 liters. It produces 625 ponies and 553 pound-feet of twist. Power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Cars with V-8s are heavy no doubt, but that’s not the case here. In fact, it’s the lightest of the lot here. It weighs 4,343 pounds, which makes it 397 pounds lighter than the Rimac Nevera and 727 pounds lighter than the Porsche Taycan.

For the record, this kind of performance comes at a cost. So, isn’t exactly fair to pit the Germans against the Rimac Nevera. In the U.K., the Taycan is priced at £139,280, the M5 Competition at £102,385, and the Rimac at £2 million; which is almost nine times the cost of the Taycan and the M5 combined!

To Say The Nevera Is Quick Will Be An Understatement

The Rimac Nevera is the obvious winner here, but we have to see how mercilessly it does that. In the first drag, the Taycan kept up with the Nevera for about a couple of seconds, but then it was all about the Croatian. The Taycan, mind you, is no joke, but the Nevera has made a mockery of the whole race. As for the BMW, let’s consider it wasn’t even there in the race. The Nevera took 8.7 seconds to the quarter-mile, the Taycan took 10.2 seconds, and the M5 Competition reached in 11.5 seconds, making it almost three seconds slower than the Rimac.

Next was a rolling race from 31 mph. The Nevera, obviously, flew past its rivals for one the biggest rolling race wins you must’ve seen in recent times. They tried it again where the Nevera started a few seconds after the other two, but this didn’t change the result in any way. Just for the record, the Taycan came second and the M5 came last.

Finally, there was a brake test from 62 mph. Here, the Nevera stopped in the shortest distance, followed by the Taycan, and then the M5. So, a not-so-surprising clean sweep for the Croatian.

Final Thoughts

Despite the one-side affair, this was fun to watch. After all, you don’t get to see the Porsche Taycan get its ass handed to it in this manner very often! This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Nevera bully its rival. Around its launch, it comprehensively beat even the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. Anyhoo, watch the carnage below and share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
