Chevrolet finally debuted the Silverado EV and gave us a few details about the truck. Initially, it will be offered in two trims – WT and RST First Edition – one on each end of the spectrum. Apart from these, there will be a few more trims gracing the lineup. One of them is the Trailboss, an off-road-oriented trim that even the Ford F-150 Lightning doesn’t have so far. How about that!

What Do We Know About The Silverado EV Trailboss?

There’s not much known about the Trailboss trim yet, but the company has confirmed that it will be making the cut. Chevrolet even included one image of the Trailboss Silverado EV, further cementing the fact that this isn’t a floating thought or a publicity stunt. The Silverado EV Trailboss looks a lot more aggressive than the other WT and the RST Final Edition that the company unveiled.

It can be seen in the wild with a frontal view. There’s the black front fascia with LED lights and an LED DRL strip running the width of the truck. There’s honeycomb mesh at the bottom, partly covered by a matte gray bull bar-like element. You can even spot two red tow hooks here. The Trailboss sits a lot higher than the standard Silverado EV. It is equipped with all-terrain tires shod around a unique set of tires.

Since there are no other details provided, we’ll have to speculate about what it will offer. A liftkit is a given, seeing the stance of the car. Locking diffs, air springs, and four-wheel-steering are the other things you can expect here. Features like the Crab Walk from the Hummer EV may also be offered here.

Apart from this, Ultravision cameras that offer multiple underbody views could be a standard offering. The same is offered on the Hummer and gives 18 different views to the driver to traverse beaten paths with ease. On the inside, it will be tech-heavy with the touchscreen and digital instrument cluster tuned to show off-road data as well.

The Silverado EV was revealed with power tunes. We speculate the higher power output to be offered on the Trailboss model. This means the dual-motor setup will churn out 664 horses and 780 pound-feet of torque. The Silverado EV will have a range of 400 miles in its best avatar, but the same can’t be expected on an off-road-oriented trim. Perhaps, it will be rated at around 350 miles. The lower trims are expected to come with a smaller battery pack and a range of under 300 miles. To keep the Trailboss’ price low, Chevy could offer the smaller battery pack as standard and the bigger one as optional.

There’s no word on the pricing either, but we speculate a starting sticker price of around $80,000 for it.

Conclusion

Chevy hasn’t given even a tentative date yet, but don’t expect the Trailboss to come any time before 2024. Along with this, the standard RST will also join the lineup. Chevy has even announced that there will be multiple offerings with a starting price of around $50,000, $60,000, $70,000, $80,000, and more. This could mean that other trims like the LT, LTZ, Custom, and High Country could make the cut as well.
