GMC has unveiled the Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX concept at the Overland Expo Mountain West. As the name suggests, it is based on the Canyon’s off-road trim, the AT4. Overlanding is a niche that’s picking up pace quite rapidly and automakers are offering accessories for the same. The OVRLANDX concept is developed keeping this in mind and it comes with goodies that will make your camping experience even better. Also, it comes with a lot of off-road equipment, thus elevating the AT4 trim as a whole.

What’s Special About The GMC Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX Concept?

The Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX rides on 17-inch AEV Crestone wheels wrapped in 33-inch BFGoodrich KM3 mud-terrain tires. As for the other off-roading equipment, the OVERLANDX concept features:

-* Factory-lifted, wide off-road chassis with enhanced underbody coverage

-* Cast-iron control arms

-* Front and rear electronic locking differentials

-* Multimatic DSSVTM dampers

-* Heavy-duty front bumper with winch Integrated front recovery points

-* AEV rear off-road bumper

-* Off-road rocker panel protectors

-* Wheel flares with integrated task lamps

-* Spare tire swivel mount

-* Guy lines for protecting the windshield from low-hanging branches

Courtesy of all these things, the AT4 OVRLANDX boasts an approach angle of 27.7 degrees. The ground clearance is rated at 10 inches. The truck also comes with a custom snorkel that increases the water fording levels to up to 32.1 inches.

Coming to its overlanding equipment, the Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX is fairly loaded and should suffice for your camping needs. It comes with:

-* Roof-mounted tent

-* 270-degree awning

-* Jerry cans for gasoline and water

-* Traction boards

-* Cooler and kitchenette

-* Truck bed storage with drawer system

-* Solar panel

-* Stainless steel truck bed cap

-* Off-road jack and mount

As though these things were not enough to distinguish the OVRLANDX concept from the standard AT4, GMC also went ahead and slapped a unique grille and headlamp finishes on the outside. On the inside, the concept is upholstered in leather.

Powering the truck is the same 3.6-liter, V-6 engine that puts out 308 horses and 275 pound-feet of twist. Power is channeled to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

There’s no word on if the truck will hit production, but we hope all the goodies displayed here are available as optional for existing or new truck owners to fit on their Canyons.
