Brabus' previous Rocket 900 program was based on the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S. Now, the same treatment was applied to the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe. And no, it is not because the SUV's standard 603 horsepower are not enough, but because Brabus wants to continue its tradition of building the fastest cars in the world.

And now it's time to meet the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition or, actually, the world's fastest SUV!

Updates under the hood

The GLE 63 AMG is powered by a 4.0-liter V-8 engine paired with a 48-Volt EQ Boost system. The engine is capable of delivering a total of 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, while the EQ Boost system adds an 21 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and up to a top speed of 174 mph. Impressive numbers for an SUV, we might add.

Brabus obviously found these figures to be not as impressive though and decided to pump them up. However, its package doesn't include "regular" tuning jobs. No, the tuner started by increasing the V-8'e displacement.

So, the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition is powered by a 4.5-liter V-8 engine. The enlarged cylinders were combined with larger forged pistons, a special precision-balanced billet crankshaft with a stroke increased to 100 millimeters (3.9 in), and forged, longer piston rods. The standard turbos were also replaced by special BRABUS turbochargers with larger compressor units and modified core assemblies with reinforced axial bearings. The exhaust system is also new, and we are looking at a BRABUS stainless sport exhaust system with integrated exhaust flaps and two BRABUS titanium/carbon tailpipes with a diameter of 90 millimeters (3.5 in).

The sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 3.2 seconds, and top speed goes up to an impressive 205 mph. This numbers make it 5 mph faster than Brabus' previous 850 Coupe.

What's different on the exterior

Of course, most people will only focus on the changes made under the hood, but the exterior look itself is not something you shouldn't ignore. This paint matches perfect the rest of the elements made out of carbon fiber.

The chin spoiler, the air intakes, the front bumper, side intakes, side air outlets or the rear diffuser were all made in carbon fiber. There are also a few wheels to choose from. The ones you see in these pictures are new, 24 inch Monoblock Z "Platinum Edition" wheels in a ten-spoke design. However, they can also be ordered in 23-inch dimensions, combined with Continental high-performance tires.

A few changes were also made on the interior

The interior colors were chosen to perfectly match the exterior. The same red color was used for all trim pieces in the cockpit, pedals, door pins, and the RACE paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

Conclusion

The new Brabus 900 Rocket Edition will be limited to only 25 units and will carry a price of €381,243 or about $448,000 at the current exchange rates.
