Mercedes-AMG has launched its first-ever performance hybrid car, and it is the most powerful production Mercedes ever

The plug-in hybrid system is offered on a new GT 63 S E model, which is now the flagship four-door GT car

Pricing is still a mystery, but expect it to start around $200,000

It is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 and a rear-mounted electric motor

The combined power output is rated at 831 HP and 1,033 lb-ft of torque

It features a nine-speed automatic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels

The GT 63S E takes 2.9 seconds to get from from 0 to 62 mph, and it has a top speed of 196 mph

Carbon-ceramic brakes and air suspension are also offered as standard

On the outside, it features new fluted trapezoidal twin exhaust tailpipes and a plug-in charging flap on the rear bumper

It also comes with ‘E Performance’ badges on the fenders

On the inside, there’s a widescreen MBUX touchscreen system and AMG Performance steering wheel

The cabin is upholstered in Nappa leather and feels plush

These are specs for the Euro model. The U.S. model will likely arrive in early 2022 and details will be revealed then
