When Seat announced its new CUPRA sub-brand, no one believed it would actually stick around. As it turns out most people were wrong, as CUPRA is still around, and more than that, CUPRA models are very successful across Europe. The company is in fact so serious and successful that it is preparing to launch its first urban electric car sometime in 2025. While that is still four years from now, CUPRA used the 2021 IAA Munich motor show as an opportunity to give us a first glimpse at its future model.

What makes the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept special

If you've paid attention in the past few years, you probably know that CUPRA models are usually sportier versions of SEAT models. And the UrbanRebel Concept is no exception: it features a sporty design with athletic lines and bold expression.

If you take a look at the concept's front you will notice the first CUPRA elements: a shark nose and new triangular headlamps. The rear also features a design we've already seen on the Formentor. A huge rear wing further underlines the sporty character of the concept.

As it previews an urban car, the concept is in fact a very compact vehicle: It measures 4,080 mm (160.62 inches) in length, 1,795 mm (70.66 inches) in width, and 1,444 mm (56.85 inches) in height.

As for the production version, we know it will be built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB short platform and, according to CUPRA, it will offer a mix of "astonishing design with supreme dynamics." We have no further details on the electric motor just yet, but we do not expect to see the same numbers in 2025.
