After more than a decade of development, the Tuatara finally goes into production
After previewing the concept in 2018, SSC finally unveiled the production-spec Tuatara in 2020
It is powered by a 5.9-liter, twin-turbo flat-plane crank V-8 engine that makes up to 1,750 hp
0-60 mph is rated at 2.5 seconds and top speed in excess of 300 mph
SSC claimed that the Tuatara averaged 316.11 mph in its run last year, but later admitted it did not cross 300 mph
It features a carbon fiber monocoque and a ton of aero elements
Price isn’t announced, but it will start in the ballpark of $2 million
The Tuatara comes with a carbon fiber body and a race-inspired diffuser amongst other things
It is very similar to the prototype, especially when viewed from the rear
You’ll find stuff like exposed carbon fiber, Alcantara, and even aluminum trims inside the cabin
Don’t let the cramped cabin deceive you because SSC says a person as tall as 6’5” can sit inside easily with a helmet on!
In May 2021, SSC announced the Tuatara Striker and the Aggressor, with the former limited to 100 examples and latter to just 10
