Top EVs That Can Pose a Threat To Tesla Model S Plaid

These upcoming EVs may present a threat to the mighty Tesla Model S Plaid

Rimac Nevera is for those who want the ultimate performance EV

Its four electric motors provide a total of 1,914 hp and 1,740 lb/ft (2,360 Nm), which dwarfs the Tesla Model S Plaid's 1,020 hp and 1,050 lb/ft (1,423 Nm)

Not practical, but very exclusive

Can an EV become collectable? We don't know yet, but only 150 examples of the Nevera wil be made. Granted, it's much more impractical and way more expensive than the Model S Plaid, but an 8.6-second 1/4-mile time and 258 mph top speed are strong arguments

Lucid Air

The Plaid's most direct competitor also coems from California. Lucid Air will be available in 4 trims, the most powerful of which is the Dream Edition, which provides 1,111 hp and 520 miles of range, which is more than the Plaid's 348-mile range

Better value for the money?

Lucid Motors promises an unparalelled level of luxury and sophistication, in the EV segment. The Dream Edition also happens to cost less than the Plaid, while surpassing it in numerous aspects

Nezha S

The Chinese Nezha S is (very) obviously aimed at the Model S. However, performance is not where the Nezha will surpass the Model S Plaid, as it wil manage a 4.0-second 0-62 mph time - a far cry from the Plaid's sub-2-second achievement

Nezha S promises to be one of the most advanced EVs, when it debuts in 2022

In addition to the 497-mile range, Nezha S brigns Level 4 authonomy (Model S has level 2). It will also feature advanced safety systems and is expected to be much ore affordable due to the modular architecture it utilizes

Polestar Precept

The Precept was supposed to debut in 2020, but has been rescheduled for 2023. The third model of Volvo's EV brand will be called the Polestar 5, but unfortunately that's all we know so far

A Swedish EV flagship

Polestar used to be the performance division of Volvo. As such, we expect their flaghip to provide more than sufficient performance, in addition to good range, and advanced safety systems

Tesla Roadster

It's strange to think that one of Model S Plaid's main competitors comes from the same c ompany. The second-generation Roadster is coming in 2022 and promises insane figures that would dwarf the Plaid

The insane figures

Its 200 kWh battery will provide 620 miles of range and its 3 electric motors will give you 7,376 lb/ft of torque and over 1,000 hp. Optionally, you could get the SpaceX pckage, which is, essentially, a rocket thruster, for even more acceleration
