BMW unveiled the second generation M2 in early October, and while it is a much sportier-looking M2 compared to the earlier F87 generation, it does lack the flair of a proper sportscar. In order to make the M2 more aggressive and track-ready, the Bavarian auto giant has finally introduced its official M Performance Parts, which will be available in April 2023 when the new M2 hits dealerships.

The M Performance parts, like such packages from other OEMs, focus on adding visual flair and weight reduction through the extensive use of carbon fiber parts. Here are some critical M Performance parts for the exterior which can be fitted to the G87 M2:

  • Carbon fiber air intake trim
  • Carbon fiber front splitter
  • Carbon fiber front and rear side spats
  • Carbon fiber side skirts
  • Carbon fiber M exterior mirror caps
  • M Performance carbon fiber rear lip spoiler
  • M Performance carbon fiber rear diffuser
  • M Performance carbon fiber rear spoiler
  • M Performance tow strap
  • M Performance aramid antenna cover
  • M Performance high-gloss black roof spoiler
  • M Performance aluminum wheels (20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear)

However, these are only some of the available upgrades. In addition, similar to the M3 and the M4, BMW will offer the M Performance Exhaust system with the G87 M2. The center-mounted quad-exhaust tailpipes are available in titanium and carbon fiber, and the stainless steel front pipes contribute to decent weight savings. As a result, the exhaust system is about 18 pounds lighter than the standard exhaust.

While the M2 with accessories looks far better than its standard form, it needs to perform better, too. As such, BWM M will also offer the height-adjustable M Performance suspension on both axles. This suspension can be lowered by around 0.40 inches for improved stability on track days.

Just like the exterior, The M Performance parts enrich the M2’s interior with a handful of truly impressive customizations. The wide range of additions includes:

  • M Performance Alcantara knee pads
  • M Performance Alcantara armrest
  • Carbon fiber/Alcantara interior trim
  • M Performance brushed aluminum badging with matte-finished carbon fiber trim
  • M Performance carbon fiber backrest covers with the M Sport seats
  • Alcantara-wrapped rear panel trim on the driver and front passenger seats
  • M Performance carbon fiber paddle shifters
  • M Performance Alcantara-wrapped Pro steering wheel
  • M Performance carbon fiber door sill plates

Finally, the list of custom accessories ends with the M Performance velour floor mats, which have M Performance badging and contrasting stitches in blue and red. With these customizations, there is no way you can say that the G87 M2 is not the flamboyant one among its competition.
