There are a lot of changes happening in the racing world for the Corvette teams. For starters, Corvette Racing will make an official transition into the Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance Amateur (LMGTE Am) category in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) for the 2023 racing season. The Chevrolet factory team has decided to get rid of their existing LMGTE Pro program and will only have a single entry for 2023. This will be the first time that the corvette will be made available for both pro and amateur teams. However, come 2024 is when things get really exciting. The General Motors brand is set to introduce a brand new GT.3 car for the 2024 racing season. This is an obvious nod at their switch to customer racing that followed their step-down from the WEC. This will be the last season that the C8.R is allowed to compete against GT3 class racers. But, not to worry Corvette racing fans, the Corvette will still participate in the full seven-race WEC calendar, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

Corvette's Getting Electrified!

Some very exciting news for Corvette fans is the announcement by Chevrolet for the first electric Corvette that is planned to be released in 2024. It will essentially be the new Stingray - it might even be called the E.Ray. One of the main concerns here is that the electric versions of the car might cost quite a bit more than its gas-powered former models. Chevrolet has yet to release an official price, or any official specs, yet. However, we can expect a pretty awesome car due to pressure to compete with other EVs like the Dodge eMuscle and the electric Porsche 718. We can only assume that an electric z06 will also be a strong possibility for the brand, but no details have been released on that front yet.
