Even though it is already known that Honda is working on a new generation of the NSX, it was also clear that we would have to say goodbye to the current generation in a timely manner. And that time has now come - on Nov. 16 in Ohio, the last of a total of 350 Acura NSX Type S has now rolled off the production line. And with this limited Special Edition, the six-year career of the current generation of the NSX also comes to an end.

The last produced example of the NSX Type S presents itself in matte gray as well as matching rims in high-gloss black. Even though Acura hasn't released any pictures of the interior, white seats show up there, suggesting a contrasting light-colored interior. The Type S is powered by a performance-enhanced version of the familiar hybrid system from the regular NSX. Thus, the 3.5-liter V-6 turbo engine in combination with three electric motors here achieves a maximum total output of 600 horsepower (447 kW) and 492 pound-feet (667 Nm) of torque. This increased performance by 27 horsepower and 16 pound-feet.

For the home market of Japan, Honda reserved 30 copies. However, the manufacturer did not disclose where exactly the last unit produced is headed.

So while Acura is devoting itself to other models in Ohio, Honda is already working on a successor to the NSX. This could be based on Honda's new e:Architecture from 2026 and thus come onto the market as a pure EV. In terms of power and performance, it could once again enter completely new spheres. Even though the information about the new NSX is not yet certain, a new generation of the sports car is considered very likely. The only drawback is the long wait until production starts.

Honda is bridging the waiting period until then with further new all-electric models. In 2023, we can expect the Prologue, which is based on the Ultium platform from General Motors. The following year, the new Acura ZDX will be based on the same architecture. And in 2025, Honda could show a first near-production concept of the NSX. So, the wait could be over sooner than expected.
