Louts unveiled the brand's first SUV earlier this year, but the English sports car manufacturer divulged little details. However, the brand has now released additional information, including that the model will hit the European market in 2023 with three versions and the top spec will produce an enormous 900 horsepower.

The base model is simply called Eletre, while Eletre S and the top model Eletre R will be positioned above it. Quite surprising in Lotus' announcement is there will be only one available battery size. The battery will hold 112 kWh of electrical energy and, according to the manufacturer, can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes with up to 350 kW of charging power.

All versions of the Eletre will be powered by two electric motors, making them all-wheel-drive as standard. The base model and the S version have a notable total output of 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 524 pound-feet (710 Newton-meters) of torque. Here, both the engine on the front axle and the one on the rear axle deliver 300 horsepower (223.5 kilowatts). The top model Eletre, on the other hand, relies on an electric motor twice as powerful at the rear axle. Together, the two motors deliver a total output of an enormous 900 horsepower (671 kilowatts) and 727 pound-feet (986 Newton-meters) of torque.

According to Lotus, this makes the Eletre R the fastest twin-motor electric SUV in the world. The R takes just 2.9 seconds to sprint from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) and reaches a top speed of 165 mph (265 km/h). But the drive of the normal version and the S is also impressive. Those models will takea 4.5 seconds to reach 62 mph with a the top speed of 160 mph (257 km/h).

According to the European WLTP cycle, the Eletre in these versions gets up to 373 miles (600 kilometers) on a full battery charge. By contrast, due to the higher power but not enlarged battery, the range of the R drops to 304 miles (489 kilometers). A prerequisite for these ranges, however, are optional 20-inch wheels, while the standard version even has enormous 22-inchers in the wheel arches.

The Base Version Starts At Just Under $85,000

Standard equipment includes air suspension with variable vehicle height and adaptive dampers. Carbon-ceramic brakes and real LIDAR will be available as options. The Eletre will be produced at Lotus Technology in Wuhan, China. A market launch in the United States is not expected before 2024.
