Mini is celebrating its 20th anniversary in the United States, a date that coincides when the British brand was purchased by BMW. To celebrate, it released a trio of 2023 Mini Cooper S four-door hatchbacks painted in either of the three colors of the American flag. How patriotic.

Available In Three Patriotic Color Choices

Called the Mini 20 Years Edition, the Cooper S four-door on which it is based is painted in either Chili Red (the launch color of the first Mini Cooper in 2002), Pepper White, or Island Blue - all of which are matched to a silver roof and mirror caps. These colors are not exclusive to these special edition models, which means you can order a standard four-door Cooper S with any of these three paint choices if you don't fancy the idea of an Americanized Mini. However, you'll be missing out on the red, white, and blue hood stripes that are offset to the right of the hood, and the '20 Years Edition' side decals with matching stars that are unique to this special edition model.

Other exterior features that are unique to the Mini 20 Years Edition include commemorative side scuttle inlays, C-pillar decals, and a tailgate that comes with the same stripes as those on the hood. Apart from these special features, the Mini 20 Years Edition comes with 17-inch Tentacle Spoke black alloy wheels, roof rails, and a panoramic sunroof.

Unfortunately, Mini USA did not provide any photos of its interior, which means all you can do is imagine what it will look like based on what we're about to say. Mini says that the interior of the 20 Years Edition models gets special door sills, Carbon Black leatherette seats, Nappa Leather steering with a special '20 Years Edition' insert, piano black trims with '20 Years' graphics, and a black headliner. And then in terms of equipment, the 20 Years Edition models are fitted with dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, Touchscreen Navigation Package, Mini Assist telematics system, Apple CarPlay, and digital gauges.

Brisk Performance, Patriotic Production Timeline

Because the Mini 20 Years Edition is based on the Cooper S four-door, it comes with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that produces 189 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque. This drives the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and is enough for a 0-60 mph time of just 6.6 seconds. If you feel a bit patriotic yourself and at the same time, a fan of the Mini brand, the Mini 20 Years Edition might be for you. If that's the case, then prepare to shell out $36,315 plus an additional $850 for destination fees for the privilege of owning one. Oh, and these models went into production in July 2022--the same month as America's Independence Day.
