The Bugatti Chiron is a name that needs no introduction! It was always a beast of a car, to begin with, and the Super Sport takes it one step further. Developed in Germany by Bugatti Engineering GmbH, the original Chiron was first shown in the year 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show. As for the Chiron Super Sport, it was launched in March 2022, and this will perhaps be the last version of the Chiron with a pure petrol heart before electric motors come in to assist. As if the original Chiron wasn’t fast enough, this Super Sport version has even more power produced by its quad-turbocharged W-16 engine.

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport produces a massive 1,578 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet (1600 Nm) of torque. The additional power comes in courtesy of a few tweaks to the W-16 engine first used in the standard Chiron. The Super Sport features four bigger and more efficient turbos that help produce more power. In addition, the redline has been increased by 300 rpm to a thunderous 7,100 rpm. The increased redline helps stay in the peak powerband for longer.

9 It's A Beefed Up Version Of The Standard Chiron's Engine

The Super Sport comes with the tried and tested 8.0-liter (7,993 cc) quad-turbocharged and inter-cooled DOHC 64-valve W-16 engine. In the Super Sport, the engine features beefed-up internals to boost the power figures. Notably, this engine gets bigger turbos in the Super Sport that help in making the additional power that makes the Super Sport special. This engine features an aluminum block and heads. Bugatti has also focused on keeping the weight to a minimum, which helps it accelerate faster than the normal Chiron.

8 The Chiron Super Sport Features Seven-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission

The Chiron Super Sport features the tried and tested seven-speed dual-clutch automatic from its parent company. It’s extremely quick-shifting and allows the Chiron to put down its massive power onto the road in a seamless manner. This dual-clutch automatic is known for its ability to swap cogs quickly, and it helps the Chiron Super Sport in reaching unbelievably high speeds in a blink of an eye!

7 The Super Sport Is Unbelievably Quick

Thanks to the massive power figure and the bespoke aero enhancements, the Super Sport reaches 60 mph in mere 2.3 seconds. It gets to 100 mph in 4.3 seconds while the quarter mile is dismissed in 9.1 seconds flat! These figures make the Chiron Super Sport one of the quickest production cars. To put it into perspective, the Chiron Super Sport crosses the 200 kph mark (124 mph) in just 5.8 seconds, which is quicker than the time taken by a Honda Civic Type-R to reach 100 kph (62 mph). The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport accelerates with a G-force of 0.4! However, thanks to all the aero enhancements that it gets, the car stays firmly on the ground even at some crazy speeds. As for the top speed, it is rated at 273 mph; 31 mph less than the Chiron Super Sport 300+.

6 Bugatti Offers A Special Aero Package

One thing that makes the Chiron Super Sport unique and different from the standard iteration of the Chiron is the focus on aerodynamics. This is really important for keeping the car grounded at speeds upwards of 250 mph (400 kph) that this car is capable of touching. The front end features tiny holes and fins designed to create a perfect laminar flow along the body. Although these fins are really hard to spot, they do a pretty amazing job, to say the least. There are also air passages at the top of each fender that help relieve the pressure in the wheel wells. This might otherwise have lifted the car at those crazy speeds.

5 A 'Drag-Cutter' On The Chiron Super Sport's Derrière

At the rear, the Chiron Super Sport has an additional length of about 7.4 inches. This is because it sports an intricately shaped carbon molding that helps in cutting the drag immensely. Going into the technicalities, this carbon molding reduces the tear-off area by 44-percent! This is the surface area where the air departs the car and goes turbulent, hence, the lower the surface area the better. The two exhaust pipes on each side are also stacked in such a manner as to increase the surface area of the diffuser. This beautiful diffuser is made from a single piece of carbon!

4 The Chiron Super Sport Can Be Tamed

Considering the massive performance on tap, anyone would expect that the Super Sport would be very uncomfortable and bone-jarring at low speeds. However, this is not even remotely close to how it behaves at walking speeds. It rides really well considering it’s an extreme hypercar with massive performance on tap. The surprising levels of comfort make the Chiron Super Sport very usable for its owners even on a day-to-day basis.

2 It Takes Inspiration From The Chiron Super Sport 300+

The Chiron Super Sport is a sort of a road-going version of the Super Sport 300+ record car which was made to set speed records! It does not come with all the interior stiffening bits from the 300+. but features more leather all over the interiors just like the standard Chiron. The 300 name comes from the fact that the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ is the first production road car to clock 300 mph. The styling of the Chiron Super Sport is similar to the special-edition Chiron Super Sport 300+. Interestingly, the production of the 300+ was limited to just 30 copies, and unsurprisingly, all have been already sold.

1 The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Doesn't Come Cheap

With all the additional kit that the Super Sport features over the standard Chiron, it was all but expected to be significantly more expensive than its predecessor. The Super Sport has a base price of $3,825,000 which is simply astounding. Interestingly, even at this price, almost all the Chiron Super Sport units have already been sold. This is mostly due to the exclusivity that even the ultra-rich get when they buy the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport.
