It is no secret Chevrolet is getting something ready to compete at a major scale with the new Corvette. When the C8 corvette debuted, it was obvious that the car was going to be incredibly competitive with rivals from Europe, and with the Z06 challenging the best from Italy, those predictions have rung true. The Corvette has long been judged by Europeans as a cheaply made sports car, but the newest model has proved that the version is seriously good. Now, word has spread that the model may be becoming its own brand, which could include a Corvette SUV. While some purists may scoff at the idea, this rendering has us hopeful.

How Certain Is The Upcoming Corvette SUV?

The Corvette name is changing from a singular model to a lineup of three electric or electrified vehicles in the coming future, and GM has all but confirmed an SUV version of the Corvette will be introduced. With the Corvette name becoming a lineup by 2025 with perhaps a four-door coupe and even an SUV/Crossover, the Corvette as many enthusiasts know it will never be the same. But these exclusive renderings showcase what the upcoming Corvette SUV could resemble, and it's a fastback SUV that looks mighty tempting.

The Corvette SUV Could Be A Budget Urus

The Corvette SUV in the renderings delivers on one thing that the car does not - ground clearance. While brands like Lamborghini and Porsche are adding off-road variants of their cars to the market, the Corvette would require the SUV treatment for this feat. The rendering, while shown on summer tires with chunky split five-spoke wheels, does have an impressive stance to it. The Corvette SUV looks almost like a serious budget Lamborghini Urus, and with the performance capabilities we have seen already, the SUV very well could compete with it on the track.

The Corvette SUV Looks Mean And Race-Ready

The front of the SUV is taken directly from the new Z06 model, including the aggressive front venting. While the vents are absolutely massive this way, the car does carry an aggressive and purposeful look like this. Shown in a darker color than Rapid Blue, the look could even be menacing. A vehicle this size would definitely need improved larger brakes up front, and the extra venting shown would be the perfect way to cool them after pushing the car hard. The front facia and molded front quarter panels actually look surprisingly good on an SUV body. While the Mustang Mach-E may share little to no resemblance with the American pony car of its namesake, the SUV ‘Vette definitely shows its family history.

Is The World Ready For A Corvette SUV?

The rear showcases the size growth of the Corvette SUV. The taillights and center-exit exhaust are taken directly from the Corvette Z06. The sloping roofline, while nearly eliminating all rearview visibility, does still manage to look sporty thanks to the two-level spoilers overhanging the rear bumper. Hopefully the rear vents would remain functional, as opposed to on cars like the Honda Civic Type R. Obviously, the Corvette SUV would have to return to a front-mounted engine setup, but could overall be a very good vehicle if it absolutely must be built. And if it is, we hope it looks like this.
