Back in July, the folks over at Team Associated unveiled a 1:10 scale Hoonicorn RC car - a 100% replica of the real deal. It doesn't come with the 410-cubic-inch Roush Yates V-8 engine, but for those passionate about the Hoonicorn, it is a nice substitute. The only problem was its price: $579.99 or $679.99, depending on the version. It is, of course, not as expensive as Ken Block’s real 914-horsepower Hoonitruck that sold for $1.1 million, but it is also not something all the people can afford. For those who dream of owning the Hoonicorn, the guys over Hoonigan have come up with a new solution - a 1:14 scale car priced at only $249.99 - that is a lot more affordable and makes for a very nice gift as Christmas approaches.

Just As Good As The Real Deal

The original 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn was unveiled back in 2016. Originally, it came with a 410-cubic-inch Roush Yates V-8 engine that could deliver 845 horsepower and 720 pound-feet of torque, but over the years the engine evolved, so the current RTR V2 version end up with 1,400 horsepower and 1,250 pound-feet of torque under the hood. The 1:14 scale model is not as powerful, but it is just as impressive as the actual car. It is built on a Team Associated Reflex 14R shaft driven 4WD chassis. It features a Reedy brushed speed control, a 3-pole brushed motor, and a 7.4V 2S LiPo battery. A 2.4GHz 2-channel radio system will allow you to control the car, while injection-molded brake calipers and rotors with 12mm hex will allow you to safely stop the car.

The scale replica is equipped with all kinds of goodies, including sealed front and rear gear differentials, a High-Torque Digital Servo with spring-style servo saver, molded one-piece tie rods and steering links, plus molded tub chassis with covered center driveshaft. All these make its "driving" experience as close to the real deal as possible.

The 1:14 replica features a liveried replica of the Hoonicorn V2 body and rides on American Racing VF503 wheels. The front bumper is made out of foam to ease those unwanted impacts, and everything else on the body is a true replica of the original.

We know that Ken Block’s partnership with Ford ended in 2021, and he is now enjoying his new toy - the S1 Hoonitron. This doesn’t mean the Mustang is less desirable, as we are sure there are plenty who would love to find this RC car under their Christmas tree.
