2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Realtree Edition
Chevrolet has brought back the Realtree Edition on the Silverado 1500 after a five-year hiatus. Based on the Custom Trail Boss, Chevy has collaborated with Realtree, a leading camouflage brand, once again after five years to come up with the Silverado 1500 Realtree Edition. The differences in this edition are purely aesthetic. The truck comes with camouflage graphics on the sides of the truck bed, hood, and inside the cabin.
How Well Will The Ford Ranger FX4 Fare Against a F-250 Super Duty Tremor In A Drag Race?
Drag racing trucks is “the thing” these days. We have seen trucks of all sizes go up against their similarly-sized competitors. But, how would a drag race between two trucks that are at the opposite end of the spectrum fare? The folks at TFL decided to check it out by bringing in two vastly different pickup trucks from the same stable. One is the Ford Ranger with the turbocharged EcoBoost engine, and the other one is the huge F-250 Tremor. The F-250 comes with a massive V-8 engine and a four-digit torque figure, but it is also a super heavy truck and weighs a lot more than the Ranger. Does it have enough to beat the much lighter and peppier Ranger?
2020 Ram 2500 HD - Driven
Although Ram has been around the block for almost four decades, it was not until recently that the brand became a household name and a serious contender to the undisputed king of the industry, the Ford F-Series. Ram is essentially a by-product of Dodge and is a fully-owned subsidiary of the FCA since 2014. The name might be new, but the company has been building trucks since the 1970s under the name ’Fargo Trucks’ which was sold outside the United States..
The marque has essentially gone through a paradigm shift over the last decade and is consistently rising up the sales chart. In 2019, Ram sold over 630,000 examples; almost 60,000 more than the Chevy Silverado, to occupy the runner-up position. A lot of it can be credited to the fantastic engines in the lineup, and Ram’s constant effort to infuse luxury into its cargo-haulers. Not to mention, it has been paying a lot attention to safety as well. To top it all off, these trucks became an overnight sensation when Ram announced a 1,000 pound-feet of torque figure for the 3500 series. The Ram 2500 doesn’t boast of that, but it still has a lot going in its favor to be deemed as a potent threat to the Blue Oval and the Bowtie.
The model that arrived at the TopSpeed HQ was a black Ram 2500 HD Laramie. This is a mid-level trim that may not come with the best features that Ram has to offer, but it is one of the most practical trims to buy that covers all the basic essentials you would need on a daily basis. The truck came with a Cummins engine under the hood, a large touchscreen system on the inside, and a fairly wide, intimidating footprint that would shoo away all the smaller vehicles on the road with ease. But, when you pit it against the like-for-like trims of Ford and Chevy products on paper, it feels a little weak.
With that said, the Ram 2500 HD Laramie is still a strong contender and worthy of being shortlisted in your book if you’re in the market for a heavy-duty truck priced at around $50,000.
2020 Ford F-150 5.11 Tactical Edition by Roush Performance
There are only a handful of companies in the world that have a reputation and rich heritage like Roush. Roush has been in performance engineering since 1976. The company’s founder, Jack Roush, had a drag racing team in the early 70s, so you can be assured of the quality of work on Roush-modded trucks. Roush has been associated with Ford for decades now and has created a lot of trucks for the Blue Oval. Its latest creation is the Roush F-150 5.11 Tactical Edition. The truck is powered by the same Coyote V-8 engine, but in a different power tune and with few more add-ons to make it an absolute beast. Roush brought the truck to the 2020 SHOT Show in Las Vegas and announced that the production will be limited to merely 150 examples. Talk about exclusivity here!
Watch GMC Put The Sierra’s CarbonPro Bed Through Hell in a New Test Video
GMC has constantly been in news over the last couple of weeks and we are loving it. First came the Canyon AT4’s debut, then the 2021 Yukon’s reveal, and now this test video to show the might of the Sierra truck bed.
GMC launched the Sierra with the CarbonPro bed in early 2019. Although it tried to sell it with a series of tests to prove that it can withstand anything thrown at it, it didn’t instill a ‘wow’ image in everyone’s mind.. This test, however, will change that perception.
GMC took the CarbonPro bed to a wind-testing facility where it was put through a simulated hurricane situation. To say the least, the bed passed with flying colors. In conclusion, the hurricane may swoop away your truck, but the bed will remain unbreakable. Don’t we all need that?
Video: Would You Drive This Six-Wheeled Jeep Wrangler in the U.S.?
When you talk about a beast on six wheels, the sight of Richard Hammond driving a G63 on the sand dunes around Dubai comes to mind. But here’s one other example, and perhaps, a poor man’s Mercedes-AMG G63 6X6.
A 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has been converted from an SUV to a pickup truck, and from a four-wheel config to a six-wheel one. YouTuber Doug DeMuro got his hands on it and here’s what it is all about.
Tesla Makes A Bulletproof T-Shirt to Celebrate the Glass-Shattering Incident
The Cybertruck’s glass-shattering saga will remain fresh in our minds for a very long time. It’s not because of what happened on stage, but because Musk and his team don’t want us to forget.
Tesla is channeling all the hype it has received through memes and internet jokes into merchandise sales. On that note, the company is launching a new T-shirt featuring the incident, along with other Cybertruck-themed apparels and accessories. This is modern marketing 101 right here. The only downside - it’ll set you back by $45.
2020 Ford F-150 Cattleman Edition by Long McArthur Ford
There are lot of reputed aftermarket companies these days like Hennessey, Roush, and so on, whom you can entrust to do a good job on every car they tweak. But, that’s not feasible for everyone; cost-wise. Then there are other companies that will do it for cheap, but will you trust them to do a safe job?
People are skeptical about going to them as it may void the factory warranty and who knows, maybe even mess around with insurance claims in worst-case scenarios. However, there is an option to do inexpensive mods these days at dealership level as well. One such Ford dealership which goes by the name of Long McArthur has come up with a Cattleman Edition for the F-150. This no-nonsense package has most of the stuff required for a work truck. Feels fresh to see packages for the work trucks in the slew of futuristic trucks these days, right?
GMC Ups The Ante By Introducing The Off-Road AT4 Trim for The 2020 Canyon
It looks like General Motors has decided to stop letting GMC play the second fiddle to Chevrolet’s offerings. The company has finally decided to let Robin get his own batmobile (Robmobile?!). GMC’s mid-size pickup truck, the Canyon, will be receiving an AT4 trim. The AT4 will be replacing the All Terrain trim in the Canyon’s portfolio, thus refreshing and hopefully boosting the sales of the pickup truck’s off-road version. As a bonus, the Denali trim also receives some new additions. It looks like a positive start of the year for GMC.
Can a Turbo Diesel Jeep Wrangler Hold Up in a Drag Race Against a Gladiator, Ram Rebel, and Ford F-250?
We are always excited to see a drag race between monster vehicles. It’s one thing to see supercars race, but a completely different feeling to see huge beasts rev the holy hell out of their engines.
This time around, the guys at TFL raced three pickup trucks and an SUV in a gauntlet-style race where the winner of a round proceeds to the next to face a new opponent. The last standing contender wins it all. For this race, we have the likes of Jeep Gladiator, Ram Rebel, Ford F-250 Super Duty, and Jeep Wrangler. So, let the games begin!
Just Like the Lamborghini Huracan EVO, the Rivian R1S and R1T Will Come Standard With Amazon Alexa
Amazon has seamlessly slipped into the automotive sector quite successfully. Unlike Sony and Samsung, Amazon is not working on a product directly for now, but it sure has left a strong impression by working with some of the most happening brands of today.
At the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show, Lamborghini added Amazon Alexa to its feature list and this was nothing short of an honor for the Seattle-based company. But it doesn’t end here. Now, Rivian has announced that Alexa will be directly integrated into the hardware of the R1T truck and R1S SUV.
Cool Truck for Sale: 1956 Ford F-100 With a Shelby GT350 Voodoo Engine
Believe it or not, this is actually a Ford F-Series pickup truck. Although it is far from the conventional trucks that we’re used to seeing now, this wacky design was quite common back in the day. There aren’t many examples of this old-school truck available online today, but one example has somehow arrived on the Barrett-Jackson website.
However, this particular model is highly customized and comes packed with a modern Mustang V-8 Voodoo engine under the hood. And, the best part – it is mated to a manual transmission! Is this the best package or what?
