Mitsubishi’->ke58s Triton pickup has been around a while, with its last update in 2015. Now the automaker has brought some action to the workhorse pickup thanks to a concept->ke169 called the Geoseek. Based on the L200 Triton truck, the Geoseek concept sports new looks thanks to a bespoke paint job, a roof rack, and a custom interior.

Mitsubishi didn’t have mush to say in its press release for the L200 Geoseek’s 2016 Geneva Motor Show->ke228 launch, but there’s still plenty to look at. What the automaker did say was the Geoseek Concept is designed to express the outdoor adventurous side of the truck with tough-looking accessories geared towards outdoor enthusiasts.

Beyond the fancy paintwork and updated grille, the L200 is a standard production truck. The L200 has a total of three engine options, but Mitsubishi didn’t bother to specify which powers this model. Likewise, the truck->ke1311 can be had in either 2WD or 4WD, though we suspect this “adventurous” model is fitted with a transfer case.

It’s unclear if Mitsubishi will release a production version of this concept, making it an option package atop the standard L200. If it did, only the folks in Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America would possibly have access to it.

Exterior

Here’s where the majority of changes take place with the Geoseek concept. The body received a special coat of a pearl grey body color with bright orange accents on the fog light surrounds, mirror caps, side steps, wheels, fender flairs, tailgate spoiler, and rear bumper.

Beyond the paint, a roof-mounted cargo basket expands the trucks’ carrying abilites. A custom-built roof rack sports off-road lights and grab handles in the rear. Along with that, the front grille wears custom-made mesh for a unique look. Otherwise, the truck is stock.

Interior

Mitsubishi didn’t provide any photos of the interior, so it’s hard to tell exactly what changes were made. However, the automaker says the digs are mostly black, just as it was from the factory, but with some orange accents thrown in to match the exterior. The seats are said to have a suede-like center section with a “functional covering that aids in temperature control” along the side bolsters.

Drivetrain

As mentioned above, Mitsubishi didn’t announce what powertrain the L200 Geoseek Concept came powered with. That mean any of the three powertrains offered in the truck could be used. The standard engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 130 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. Diesel fans can opt for a 2.5-liter turbodiesel unit that makes 175 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The most modern engine offered is a 2.4-liter MIVEC four-cylinder turbodiesel with a variable-geometry turbo. It produces 133 horsepower and a respectable 317 pound-feet of torque.

Transmission choices include a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic. A two-speed transfer case sends power to the front wheels if the 4WD option is chosen.

Conclusion

The L200 Geoseek Concept is more of a one-off appearance package Mitsubishi is likely using to gauge customer interest. If the automaker receives mostly positive feedback, it’s possible we’ll see something like this move into production as an option of the L200 Triton pickup.

If you live in the U.S. and like what you see – tough luck. Mitsubishi does not and will not offer the L200 Triton pickup Stateside anytime soon. The truck market is simply too aggressive here, not to mention the safety and emissions regulations that need to be met.
