The Renault Clio has managed to conquer a lot of fans, mostly thanks to its affordable price and the low costs of ownership. The vehicle was available with a wide range of engines and apart from the standard version it was also offered a van model.
But, while the passenger version of the Clio was received with open arms by the market, the van (based on the Clio coupe) didn’t receive the same treatment.
The Renault Clio Van was sold between 2001 and 2005 and was offered with a single diesel engine which developed a maximum output of 65 hp.
The new generation Renault Kangoo represents a big step forward compared to the previous model as it’s both more practical and comfortable.
Despite the fact that the small van market is very competitive, Renault had always known how to attract buyers due to the good compromise between price, performances and economy.
Thanks to the old Kangoo van that was a very good product, Renault had a very strong foundation to build up the new generation which has anything it needs to be considered a practical and efficient small van.
The new Renault Kangoo is available in Compact, Van and Maxi shapes offering a wide choice of body styles and engines which make it ideal for urban deliveries or other light transportations.
The Nissan Kubistar is basically a rebadged version of the Renault Kangoo and shares the same exterior design and technologies with its French sibling. Nissan started to sell its own versions of the Kubistar, Primastar and Interstar models after Renault took a stake in the company back in 1999.
The vehicle competes in the small van segment with models like the Ford Transit Connect and Peugeot Expert. Similarly with its rivals, the Nissan Kubistar was designed for short urban transportation and thanks to its compact dimensions it’s pretty agile around the city. With a maximum towing capacity of 800 kg, the Kubistar is also pretty practical and would appeal to small business owners that need a compact and efficient van to do their work. The engines lineup consists of both diesel and petrol units which develop 60 hp, 70 hp and 80 hp.
The previous generation of the Renault Master was commercialized between 2003 and 2010. The vehicle was pretty popular and was sold in good numbers. Its main attributes were the capable engines and the generous payload capacity.
The vehicle shared the same platform with the Nissan Interstar and Opel Movano, and had anything it needed to be a practical panel van.
The Master offered a perfect balance between price, performance and practicality and was available in short, medium and long wheelbases with either standard or high roof configurations. There was also offered a wide range of engines which consisted of 1.9, 2.5 and 3.0 liter units. The vehicle’s gross weights ranged from 2.8 to 3.5 tonnes with payload capacities between 985kg and 1,606kg.
The Renault Kangoo van was launched for the first time in 1998 and was received pretty good by the market thanks to its compact dimensions which made it easy to drive around town and the generous load area which gave it a high level of practicality.
The Renault Kangoo’s main rivals are models like the Citroen Berlingo or Fiat Doblo. But despite the tight competition, the Kangoo has managed to stack up against its competitors pretty good as it is offered with a wide range of engines and it’s also available in passenger version.
The engine options include two petrol units (60bhp 1.2 and 95bhp 1.6) and three 1.5-litre dCi turbodiesels, which develop between 57 and 80bhp. The Renault Kangoo maximum payload ranges from 525 to 625kg and has a starting price of $10.600.
Renault has announced that it will showcase its full lineup of commercial vehicles and the 2012 Commercial Vehicle Show. Besides the contemporary Renault vehicles we will also have the occasion to see the Estafette ‘Glacier’ ice cream van from 1963.
At the show, the French manufacturer will present three Kangoo Vans, including a long wheelbase version of the 100% electric version, Z.E. There will also be a long wheelbase Maxi and a new five seat Crew Van Cab model that will feature a multi-positional bulkhead. Thanks to its innovative bulkhead the van offers the possibility to completely fold forward the rear row of seats and the metal mesh screen. In this way, the lower section folds down into the floor offering a flat load area.
Besides these models, Renault will also showcase two versions of the Trafic equipped with a host of high tech features. Together with the Trafic, we will also see six different versions of Master vans tuned especially for the Show.
The Renault Mascott was introduced in 1999 and it was discontinued in 2010, when it was replaced by the third generation Master. The Mascott was available in many body configurations including vans and chassis cab models. Thanks to its versatility and a relatively low acquisition price, the vehicle received a good response from the market.
The Mascot was equipped with a Euro 4 engine and featured a pretty spacious cab with a good overall ergonomy. The Mascott offered a wide range of versions from 3.5 t to 6.5 t, with single or dual rear wheels. The vehicle was also available with a choice of body lengths ranging from 2,575 mm to 6,460 mm.
The Renault Trafic is one of the best looking commercial vehicles available on today’s market. The Trafic is not only good looking, but has also a very flexible nature being able to deal with a wide range of commercial applications.
The Trafic occupies the gap between the smaller Kangoo and the bigger Master, and shares the same design and underpinnings with the Opel Vivaro and Nissan Primastar.
With a starting price of $20230 (excluding taxes) and a maximum payload capacity of up to 1.2 tonnes the Renault Traffic can be considered a pretty affordable vehicle that comes with a wide choice of body shapes and is pretty cheap to maintain. There are also two wheelbase options (3098mm and 3498mm) and two roof heights available.
The Renault Kerax was developed to be able to operate under the most demanding working conditions. With a maximum payload of up to 30 tonnes for the heavy duty model, the rugged Kerax is one of the most capable trucks build by the French manufacturer. The truck features new drive axles and double reduction tandems which gives it astonishing performances for both on- and off-road missions.
The vehicle is available in 3 cab configurations (Day, Global, Sleeper) and offers both manual and automated transmissions. Renault Kerax is particularly suited to activities in the construction sector such as earth moving, demolition or heavy equipment transport.
The Renault Master Chassis- and Platform-Cab models have a very versatile character perfectly suited for the light commercial vehicle segment. With two types of cabins (Single and Double), four different vehicle lengths and the choice of front- or rear-wheel drive, the Master was designed for delivery services, construction, controlled temperature transport or the transport of equipment.
Its biggest advantages are the competitive prices and the low maintenance costs which make it a cost efficient partner for your daily transportations. The Renault Maxity it’s a re-badged version of Nissan’s Cabstar and both models are among the most practical and versatile trucks in the 3.5 tones segment, destined for deliveries or small businesses. In a typical European way, the Maxity LCV features a cab-over-engine configuration which combines the maximum compactness with maximum body length.
The Renault Maxity is available with short cab or double cab configurations and has a wide range of body lengths ranging from 2.65m to 4.96m and has a 1,820kg body plus payload carrying capacity.
Globally, the Renault Maxity is equipped with either a 2.5 or a 3.0-litre diesel engine and has a starting price of 25.000 euro. Maxity features a three-year/60,000-mile warranty while the service intervals are set at 18,000 miles.
The Premium is one of the most versatile trucks in Renault’s lineup and is available in three cab configurations including the “Day cab”, “Sleeper cab” and “Sleeper cab high roof”. The high roof version is available in three different trim levels: Alliance, Privilege and Excellence.
Together with the Magnum, The Renault Premium offers a powerful, imposing and stylish design and has all the attributes for long-haul applications.
Compared with its rivals the French truck stands out thanks to its affordable price tag and the low fuel consumption and maintenance cost being one of the most cost efficient trucks in the segment. The Renault Premium Long Distance model is available with three engine options including 380 hp, 430 hp and 460 hp units. The first generation Renault Magnum was launched in 1990 and since its global debut the French truck made a great impression in its segment.
