Just under a year ago, a new era dawned at Cadillac when the manufacturer began production of its first all-electric vehicle, the Lyriq SUV, in March 2022. Along with the new technology installed, Cadillac also gave its electric SUV a new design line to celebrate the dawn of a new era. However, the new Lyriq does not change the fact that Cadillac still has SUVs with combustion engines in its portfolio, which should benefit visually and technically from an adaptation to the new times. Accordingly, the Cadillac XT4 will now enjoy a major product upgrade that will bring the sub-compact SUV much closer to its electric big brother.

Although the Cadillac XT4 has only been on the market for four years since its unveiling in 2019, it is already apparent how quickly times have changed. In any case, the new design line introduced with the Lyriq and Celestiq electric models has now prompted Cadillac to make stronger visual updates to the XT4 as well in order to keep the model fresh. The changes relate in particular to the front end of the XT4, where Cadillac has really shaken up the existing order.

In contrast to the previous model, the main headlights are now located in the former lower side air intake, while the radiator grille is now connected to the daytime running lights by means of black trim. These, in turn, retain their typical Cadillac vertical arrangement and extend well into the new main headlights. All in all, the look is much more modern than before and clearly reminiscent of the brand's all-electric models. The visual upgrade of the exterior is rounded off by significantly sportier bumpers at the front and rear. At the front, the new, larger diffuser stands out, while at the rear, the reflectors are now arranged vertically.

All-New Interior Banishes The Dust Of The Past

The biggest changes to the XT4, however, take place in the interior, which finally takes the leap into the digital age. For example, a new digital command center replaces the old button-heavy interior, making for a much more modern operation. The central control unit is now a single screen for driver displays and infotainment with a 33 inch screen that mimics the new Lyriq. It's much the same with the revised layout for the entire interior. While the XT4 retains its selector lever for the automatic transmission, it expands the center tunnel to include another rotary knob that can be used to operate additional functions of the infotainment system.

These new functions, in turn, are numerous and go far beyond the previously available range of functions. In particular, they include a number of new Google-based functions, but also new driver assistance and safety systems. In addition, Cadillac is offering a range of new colors and decors for the interior and will equip the XT4 with an optional AKG Studio sound system with 13 speakers. The brand is still silent on the price, but around $40,000 at the market launch in the summer seems realistic.
