If you’re a regular here (thank you!), you’d know how much we love souped-up motorcycles on a drag strip. And the adrenaline reaches a new high when it's an uber-fast example like Moore Mafia’s 372-HP Suzuki HyperBusa. Yes, you read that right, the YouTuber (and experienced drag racer) has finally taken his turbocharged third-gen Hayabusa to the drag strip, and to no one’s surprise, set a baffling quarter-mile time.

Moore Mafia’s 370-HP Turbo Suzuki Hayabusa Is Faster Than A Rimac Nevera Hypercar

With 372 ponies (on the dyno), the HyperBusa being a missile on the drag strip was given. Yet, it surprised us and even its makers with a mind-bending time of 8.0752 seconds at upwards of 185mph. We say upwards because the speed trap malfunctioned on this run, but showed 185mph on the previous but slower run.

Just how fast is this in layman terms, you ask? Well, plenty. For instance, the stock 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa, in the experienced hands of BikeWorld, put up 10.1 seconds on the clock while TTS’ supercharged SuperBusa (with similar 370 horsepower) managed a 9.3-second quarter mile. And if you still don’t get the picture, the HyperBusa is 0.6 seconds faster than the $2.2 million Rimac Nevera all-electric hypercar (via CarWow).

What surprises us more is Chris still believes there’s more in the tank since this was his first-ever drag strip outing on the turbo’d beast. He, and the folks at HTP Performance, still have to fine-tune the power delivery and figure out the launch which, if anything, hints at a sub-8-second quarter-mile. Besides this, the YouTuber claims this quarter-mile time is a new world record for a stock-wheelbase motorcycle. We’ll take this with a pinch of salt, though.

So what do you credit for this manic quarter-mile time? A plethora of upgrades, that’s what. The protagonist is a Garrett Motions G-Series turbocharger with a 40mm wastegate, while upgraded pistons, camshaft, piston rods, cylinder heads, and valve springs are all partners in crime. It also features lowered suspension at both ends and carbon wheels to ensure efficient power delivery.

And speaking of delivery, the sports bike retains its stock six-speed gearbox, albeit with a drag-suited clutch for a better launch. Another noteworthy detail is that the motorcycle has a flex fuel sensor and the above-mentioned times were all done with E-85 fuel instead of your normal 93, 95, or 97-octane gasoline. Finally, once Chris and HTP Performance come to conclusion for the setup, the latter plans to sell these turbo kits to you and us. Now, these won’t be cheap, but judging from what we just witnessed, they’ll be well worth it. Especially if drag racing is your thing.
